Wenger NO to Zarate, Gignac, Higuain – but Campbell likely

In Arsenal FC, January 2010 Transfer window on January 8, 2010 by Highbury N5 Editor

Zarate

Silly season has really started to kick off now, in the mornings press we were linked with Maurio Zarate, not just that, but the price spoken was a massive €40.

You may remember him from his Birmingham days when they had him on loan from January to the end of that season, he had a lot of talent but never really shone that much and he has done well since, but certainly doesn’t warrant that kind of investment.

His ‘agent’ who instigated all the rumours is only trying the tried and trusted technique of getting his clients name out there, it has happened so many times with so many players it is no longer a surprise.

Gignac

Gignac is a player I like, he’s powerful, quick and has a lot of potential, he really is the modern striker. I know Wenger is a big fan of his but the price tag he will carry is quite hefty, and this is probably off-putting, this certainly is the case judging by Wenger’s latest comments: “I like the player. I don’t need to send people to watch him because I know him well enough already because he plays for the French national team. Lyon tried to buy him last year for nearly £20million, so the price was too high.” – I think adding a striker of that value would be a disaster, we already have a lot of strikers and with Bendtner coming back, I still can’t see us adding to that collection.

Higuain

Fantastic little player, but this line totally ruins the story….

‘According to Marca, Arsene Wenger is a huge fan of ‘El Pipita’, and would be willing to let Fabregas leave if he got Higuain in return.’

And the next joke please….

There is a reason for me not mentioning Carlton Cole and Lacina Traore, there is a possibility of these deals happening, the latter more than the former, but I am 99% sure it wont happen this month, and even if the boss signed him he would have to be loaned out straight away for the work permit to be gained.

Sol Campbell

Earlier today Wenger was questioned on Sol Campbell and the chances of him signing for the club on a short term deal.

It would work. Djourou could get back to full strength without the pressure of being thrown straight in again, Senderos could find another club deserving of such a professional, and we wouldn’t be so reliant on Silvestre.

  1. pls not this one with that funy name lukukatu traore, i dont wanna a new adebardor at the emirates. Wenger dont u realise that Arsenal fc is a great club and these kind of players dont deserve to wear the arsenal shirt. Pls dont, he is young and we just have too many young players already.

  2. well.. again wenger didn’t buy something..u must keep your believe in my word-wenger will not buy!

  3. wenger is really a selfish criminal he couldn’t even buy GIGNAC for 20 million pound, he is saying that he is too expensive. then why did he sold adebayor for 25 million pound, why did he say that adebayor does not worth that price. that he is worth 10 million pound. arsene wenger sign a player with money not that 6 million you are giving out.

  4. Selfish criminal? You, sir, are mental.
