West Ham: This ain't gonna be as easy as people think

In Arsenal FC, Premier League 2009/10 on October 25, 2009 by Highbury N5 Editor

I officially have no voice. It is not very nice and I am resorting to writing insults down and showing them to the intended recipient rather than just shouting it at them. Some people might say its karma, I just call it a bloody annoyance, and a painful one at that.

So we make the short trip to Upton Park today and it has been the scene of many a hardfought game over the past few years and on a few occasions we have come out of it with a big fat 0 points.

Some people and pundits are looking at where West Ham are in the table and thinking it will be a roll over but it is a London derby so anyone thinking along those lines can shut up or get a nasty surprise. One thing that does play into our hands is that Zola will not want to just defend for 90 minutes, he likes to play some attacking football giving us some space to exploit and hopefully leading to a few goals.

If we snuff out Carlton Cole, who to be fair has improved quite a bit, then they will have no real goal threat in their side but we all know Robert Green saves his very best performances for when Arsenal come to town so until we have a winning scoreline at the final whistle I will not be getting cocky.

I see this as the final test of our title credentials in many ways because West Ham have been something of a bogey team for us and the way things are going for them they are going to be in the bottom half of the table this season, we have to beat every team in the bottom half home and away.

It is also the chance to crank up the pressure on United who visit Anfield before our game starts, if the football gods are looking down on us today a draw would be quite brilliant, thanks. For United that is….

An early goal today is just the ticket, West Ham won’t have much confidence and it will mean they have to make a point of attacking us, Nicklas Bendtner may still feature in this game as he is currently undergoing a fitness test but I’m doubting he will start if fit.

Not much else to say apart from; COME ON YOU REDSSSSSS!!

More tomorrow.
