Injuries, Birmingham & Kroenke – Friday Round up

In Arsenal FC on October 16, 2009 by Highbury N5 Editor

Good Afternoon everyone!

Sorry, for not being able to blog earlier, but I’ve had one of those maddeningly busy days where time’s just flown by. Today’s also the last day that I post as my good mate The Goon shall be back tomorrow to carry on running the fine blog as he has been doing so since over a year.

Right, we’re back into the thick of things, real football’s just hours away now and I can feel the excitement beginning to grow. When we last saw the mighty Arsenal play, where we tore a new hole into Blackburn’s bottom, the Birmingham game would be just the right opposition we’d need to hopefully continue that run and build on it. Since the defeat at Manchester City, we’ve played 6 and won 6 scoring a whopping 18 & conceding a mere 4 (Thank you Vermalen).

A little bit of injury news ahead of tomorrow’s clash is that Eduardo misses out due to his thigh injury as does the scoundrel Martin Taylor who himself is injured one way or the other, so redemption will have to wait until we visit St. Andrews.

Fabianski has returned to form and Almunia still remains a doubt. Wether or not Vito Mannone will play in stead of Fabianski remains to be seen. What are your thoughts on this?

Also missing tomorrow’s game will be Clichy who picked up ankle knock whilst on international duty hence Gibbs may be gunning for a start. Further team news shall be shared as we’re updated from various sources.

Another bit of interesting news is that Stan Kroenke has now increased his share holdings to 28.9% and is now edging nearer to the 29.9% stake which requires him to make an offer for all the shares. Peter Hill Wood had this to say:

‘It does look like he is edging towards a takeover, which I would welcome. I have not asked him if that is what he plans to do, but I am very relaxed about it.’

PHW’s blessings are with Kroenke and as the arseblogger points out, such a move would be welcome, as Kroenke is a man who is comfortable with the way The Arsenal is being run and will continue to work the club as it always has. What the future holds though, is anybody’s guess.

Well, that’s what I have for you at the moment, Sorry, I couldn’t get into too many other details but as I mentioned earlier have had a busy day thus far and have to run around sorting all sorts of other stuff the moment I’m done with the blog.

Hopefully normal service shall resume from tomorrow.

Godspeed to you all.
