Today could be the day Song, Denilson and Diaby arrive

In Arsenal FC, Premier League 2009/10 on August 29, 2009 by Highbury N5 Editor

Morning all,

it feels a little strange having a game of this magnitude so early on in the season but it could be key for both teams in the rest of the season. A winner would not only boast bragging rights but it gives the chance for Arsenal to put the shameful defeat of last season to bed and fill the team with confidence.

We will be missing Cesc Fabregas but we have gained Andrey Arshavin, him not having played against United for us before. This gives the chance for a midfield of Diaby, Denilson and Song to really shine, they have played very well so far and in the absence of the captain they are gonna have to keep up that good form against the current champions.

A lot has been made of United losing to Burnley but they smashed Wigan 5-0 in the next game so it would be wrong to say their confidence would be lower, but you can sense that this Arsenal side, full of confidence, will think they can beat this United team.

It will probably be one of those cagey games, typical of most top four encounters and it wouldn’t surprise me if it ended up a low scoring draw or a narrow win. United are going to want to prove their critics wrong and we are going to want to prove our praisers correct and tell the critics to stick their words up their holes.

Its a bit test for the defence who have looked pretty decent so far, Vermaelen is relishing his first big test in Premiership football and personally, I think he will come through it with flying colours.

In addition, I hope he knocks Evra’s head off. Men against boys? Pah.

Right, thats it from me, its manic at TGB HQ today. Lets get behind the boys.

’til tomorrow.
