Champions League Draw Made

In Champions League 2009/10 on August 28, 2009 by Highbury N5 Editor

Good Morning Everyone,

The draw for this seasons Champions League qualifying round has been made. The Gunners have drawn Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar, Greek champions Olympiacos and Champions League newcomers Standard Liege in Group H.

This isn’t the most difficult of group stages to be very honest but we musn’t also count our chickens before they hatch either. These teams have made it to the Elite compeition by however means necessary and there is no question on earth that we should be “complacent” on said day and end up with egg in our face. However I, like Gazidis, am fairl confident we should be able to go through.

Speaking of being positive, Cesc is currently “50/50” and is going to have a late fitness test today to determine wether he’s going to feature in the game against United or not, fingers crossed for that one.  his free video on the official website has also disclosed Tomas Rosicky is back in training but will not feature over the weekend. I’m not surprised and frankly with Rosicky involved, no one really should be. We’ll see him, when we see him.

Come on Fabregas!

  1. Best draw we could have had. I’m already counting the chickens. It shouldn’t be very difficult.

A note on Cesc – he’s definitely not in the squad tomorrow. It’s on arsenal.com.

  2. Talkin bout counting chickens Samflu, all those teams were champions in their respective leagues last season and moreover Greece is not an easy place to go, dunno if u’ve seen AZ l8ly they’re a decent team.
