Everton v Arsenal: Its back, Eduardo's back, football is back

In Arsenal FC, Premier League 2009/10 on August 15, 2009 by Highbury N5 Editor

Not in the mood yet?

Well we have been waiting for this day since May, even before that after last season fizzled out but we do not have to wait much longer. I love the little video above, Eduardo’s Arnie like “I’m back” in particular.

We have been written off by everyone it seems, I think all the top four teams are weaker apart from us. Man City don’t have that many new players in their starting line up… they have a lot more on their bench but their team isn’t wholly different. United have lost Ronaldo and Tevez, Chelsea have a manager that has never won a league title and their squad is aging, they will lose their most important players in the ACN as well. Liverpool have lost their linchpin in Alonso and replaced him with a 20 million player who has not started more than 20 games a season, and will not feature til October.

We are stronger than last season in my opinion and there is a chance we could strengthen even more. Write Arsenal off at your peril.

We have to get off to a good start today, an early goal would be a taster and if the 4-3-3 takes off it could be a really eventful game. I would like to see Eduardo start but I don’t think we will, last time he played here he won the game for us and the Everton backline would be happier with him on the bench.

The start we have is not easy, lets make no mistakes about that. Two trips to Manchester before September comes around is not a challenge to be taken lightly, but if we go there and get results and go on a winning streak people’s opinions of this side will change rapidly. A lot is being made of Manchester City’s millions and the media are having a field day with them, making them out to be top four material. When they lose a couple there will be signs saying WANTED: MARK HUGHES. I would wager he will be out of a job by the end of the season.

I think we will like up like this today: Almunia, Sagna, Vermaelen, Gallas, Clichy, Song, Denilson, Fabregas, Arshavin, van Persie, Bendtner. In every game in pre-season we have seen the 4-3-3 so it would be nonsensical for us to not play in that formation today.

We have to wait ’til just gone five this afternoon for our game but it does mean we are screened on the new ESPN channel, it might be a bit trickier for people to get links for streams now as the Premier League are really starting to clamp down on it this season so I will do my bit by posting any streams I find on my twitter.

I’m really up for this, its a massive game to kick off with as well, it makes it that extra bit more exciting. I think that is about it, there is just one thing left to say…

COME ON YOU GOONERSSSSSSS!!!!

  1. I hope Eboue starts over Denilson with Cesc and Song in midfield. Arshavin will Own this season. Minutes away now. Biting nails. Villa just choked to Wigan. Let’s Go Arsenal!!

  2. You got the team spot on. So now its time for the agonizing 30minute wait for the first match of the season.

    Up the ARSENAL!

  3. Vermaelan scored WOOPP!!!! 2-0!!

  4. 3-0! lol

  5. Brilliant, I think Denilson has been playing really, really well. He is advancing more than Cesc at the moment.

  6. Great game weren’t it! I think they just may have stuck that sky thing up somewhere… a statement indeed.

  7. 6-1!!

Incredible. Bendtner and Denilson were terrific.

  8. As was Vermaelen and Song! All round brilliant performance. Stick that up your holes, Sky Sports.
