Lets not rush Nasri back – Fabregas returns + Arshavin

In Arsenal FC on July 22, 2009 by Highbury N5 Editor

OH MY GOD! SAMIR NASRI HAS BROKEN HIS LEG AND IT MEANS THAT ARSENAL WILL DROP OUT THE TOP FOUR AND THEN FABREGAS AND ARSHAVIN WILL LEAVE AND ARSENAL WILL NOT BE ABLE TO RE-PAY THEIR DEBT AND THEY WILL GET RELEGATED INTO THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND WENGER WILL LEAVE!!!!

The doom mongers are at it already.

Let me give you a reminder of the start of last season, Ronaldo had just scored 40 odd goals for Man United and was set to miss the start of the season with injury. Were the press out predicting they would drop out the top four? No.

There is every chance that Nasri will be back before Ronaldo was last season, the latest update on the injury is a very positive one with Wenger stating he may even be fit in a month and a bit. Of course, he would then have to build up match practice but articles like the one I linked above are a total and utter disgrace. You would think half our team was on crutches for fuck sake.

With Rosicky, Traore, Arshavin, Diaby and Walcott as options on that left hand side we are not exactly lacking in that area are we, Nasri is not going to be that much of a loss if you ask me. He might not even miss that many games.

The main thing is that he is not rushed back like countless players have been over the years, only to break down with injury again. Get his leg healed, get him match fit and then he can ease back into action. There is no need to rush him.

The same could be said of Eduardo who underwent more surgery in his leg and ankle over the summer, he has repeatedly broken down after making returns to the side after that leg break and ankle dislocation. Wenger has given him a two month window to return to action, taking the pressure off. Every Arsenal fan wants to see a fully fit Eduardo back on that pitch because he is one of the best finishers in the Premiership and we need someone to sniff out important goals.

Fabregas has joined up with the lads in Austria and seemed to be going through his paces earlier today, for some reason he was on his own. Over the next few weeks we need to get Cesc to 100% because its fair to say he never hit his best last season, all in all he was pretty poor by his previous standards but the lack of an established and experienced midfield partner wouldn’t have helped one jot.

A little question to end the blog today… from this quote: ‘We have a full squad at the moment. If a key player leaves, then we will think about making a signing.’ how do you come up with the headline: Arsenal ‘will sell before they can buy?’.

Really? How is that possible? Leave your thoughts.

More tomorrow.

  1. Sorry, didn’t include Arshavin quotes. What a thick cunt i am.

  2. eduardo isn’t injured admin

  3. according to Eduardo – wierd situation this, wenger says he is injured, eduardo says he isnt – bizarre!

  4. I think Eduardo is just going to be nurtured for a while, build him up to 100% so he doesnt break down again and gets rid of the little niggles.

  5. Eleventy billion percent spot fucking on, mate. If one were just to read comments on certain blogs, apparently Arsenal are on the verge of falling into the fiery pit of hell, never to return. It’s utter rubbish, and I am beyond weary of that kind of talk. Thanks for just stating things plainly and pointing out, yet again, that WE ARE FINE.

On Samir’s injury, the latest news is actually quite good. And, to be honest, if he or any member of the squad “has” to have an injury, I’d much rather it was at this time of year than in February or March when we’re making the run in.

Also, I think there’s been a major misinterpretation of Arsene’s comments regarding Eduardo. The man himself has said he’s already been informed of what matches we can expect to see him in preseason, and has also stated that he’s not at all injured. I think what Wenger meant was that Eduardo will be available during the two months that Nasri is out…not that Eduardo was likewise injured and would be out for 2 months.

  6. just one DM and title is ours
