Eduardo had two operations + Matuidi link re-appears

In Arsenal FC on May 21, 2009 by Highbury N5 Editor

Shorter post today after I did an extra one last night about the new blue away kit. The kit is growing on me I must say but the jury is still well and truly out, I don’t hate it but i’m not overly keen on playing in what resembles a baseball top.

I don’t like the fact that the clubs most loyal fans are the ones that will be forking out fifty more quid for a new shirt as well. I think it does disrespect them somewhat.

Now onto Eduardo and contrary to stories he had just the one operation he actually had two. The first was to remove small screws from his ankle and the second was to remove a bit of bone that was causing him some discomfort. The procedure went well and he will undergo rehab, then join the team for pre-season training in early July.

The club released a statement saying:

Eduardo underwent simple revision surgery on his left ankle earlier today [Wednesday, May 20].

The operation went well and Eduardo will follow a dedicated rehabilitation programme throughout June.

He is expected to return to full training in pre-season with the rest of the squad.

I hope this will help get rid of the little niggles he is getting at the moment and a full pre-season will help with that. A fit Eduardo adds a hell of a lot to our attack.

Another story about Wenger/Kroenke/Usmanov/money. Getting boring.

The Goon Blog revealed in January that Arsene Wenger had inquired about St-Etienne defensive midfielder Blaise Matuidi. At that time Arsenal asked about his availability and were told he was not for sale so Wenger did not make a bid, apparently now St-Etienne are willing to do business and Matuidi is keen on a move to England, something he made clear in the January story I published. If anything does happen on that front you will be the first to know right here.

Wenger wants to improve the relationship between the players and fans – it does need to improve in my opinion.

Thats all for now im afraid. ’til tomorrow.

  1. ALL ARSENAL GREAT YOU FARREGAS AND ARVISHAN OR WALCOTT I ADVECE TO STAY ARSENAL ILOVE ARSENAL AND PLAY FOOD BALL GAME BUT WENGAR NOT MANEGAR GOOD OUT ARSENAL THIS SEASO COME MANEGAR NEW OK BYY SEE YOU

  2. Mate, if you did inform us about Matuidi, you will know he plays for AS Saint Etienne… PSG is Sahko…

I Like the shirt, pinstripes are my thing, though i get why others would hate it.

  3. Blue goes along with how every arsenal fan feels right now and i’m afraid to say it will not be any better next season. But you never know maybe we can make up the 20 point gap by next term….

  4. Shirt is good, in the past we have done well in the season we’ve worn a blue away kit so the omens are good!

I really hope and pray Eduardo suffers no more setbacks and if fully fit for us next season. We’ve missed him so much and I can’t wait to see him running onto brilliant passes from Arshavin and Cesc next year!

About this Matuidi guy, i have one thing to say! Too Short!
He’s only 5″6inches which is about the size of Arshavin!

He would get bullied off the ball by even the least tallented midfielders.

We need to go with someone pysically imposing! Someone who can win headers and muscle opponents off the ball.

  5. Matuidi looks a Wenger type. I think he would be great. Might “kill” Diaby (which i don’t mind) who’s not a defensive midfielder, gives the ball away , upsets our fluidity and drives down more cul de sacs than a bloke looking for a hooker.
Matuidi is strong in the tackle. 5ft 9.5 inches people. This is a fact would be a powerhouse alongside fab. Here’s hoping we can do a deal along with a centre half who can actually head the ball more than 10 yeards clear(which our current ones can’t do-watch the replays)
